Violette: A Family Christmas Carol includes vintage favorites form the Blankenship family childhood, singing carols every year to neighbors. Angels We Have Heard on High, and Carol of the Bells have been reimagined with special instrumentation: Violin, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone and Soprano, and feature the talents of Nat and Erika Blankenship. Michael Anderson's arrangement of Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Greensleeves evokes the beauty and dark colors of the Solstice, and Francis Anderson-Blankenship/Alice Blankenship's arrangement of Leroy Anderson's timeless Sleigh Ride transports us back into the joy and brightness of winter snow.
Who: Adult students of stringed instruments who have the ability to read music. Participants may register for one or more workshop weeks. Individuals and members of pre-formed ensembles are welcome to apply.
What: Chamber music coachings, individual lessons, string technique, body mechanics, and rehearsal strategies for chamber ensembles. Performance preparation and public concerts celebrate the end of each workshop.
When: June 30th-July 5th, July 7th-12th. Monday-Friday, 9:30am-12:30pm. Saturday sessions 10:00am-Noon. Concert at 2:00pm on Saturday.
